Falanghina IGT 2015 is an ancient italian white wine grape and It’s believed that Greek settlers brought this variety with them to the Campi Flegrei area (near modern-day Naples).
It's also said that Falanghina is the grape variety that made up the ancient white wine Falernian, the most famous wine of Roman Empire. The name of the wine seems to derive from the Latine "falangae", or stakes for supporting the grapes in a vineyard.
This wine can have a slight pine scent, but is better known for its citrus-blossom aromas, in particular bitter orange. On the palate it shows classic apple and pear flavors, refreshingly high acidity.
Food pairing Ideas: Pizza with pear, walnuts and rocket; Chicken thighs baked with red peppers and it's mineral quality makes it a good match for seafood but also creamy or even milky cheeses, like the buffalo mozzarella!
